Verbatim A19 LED- 97790

  • Verbatim’s A19 LED bulb is an energy-efficient replacement for 40 watt incandescent bulbs. Providing even light distribution and superior light quality, these lamps are ideal for many commercial and residential environments. These bulbs can reduce energy consumption by more than 80% when compared to incandescent bulbs and have an estimated lifetime of 25,000 hours, saving even more in maintenance and replacement costs. Available in a warm color temperature of 3000K, this Verbatim A19 LED bulb is backed by Verbatim’s 5-year limited warranty.

When most of us think of a traditional bulb shape, the A19 bulb is the one that comes to mind. Ideal for use in general purpose lighting applications, such as floor lamps, table lamps, pendants and flush-mounts, the Verbatim A19 3000K lamp produces quality, energy efficient light designed to provide you with significant savings over the lifetime of the bulb.

The 3000K color temperature of the light produced by this A19 lamp is classified as “Warm White” – the ideal color temperature for kitchens, dining rooms or living rooms. In addition, the A19 3000K lamp is fully dimmable, allowing you to control the light output and create the right mood for any occasion. Because LED lights do not radiate heat, you can confidently use the Verbatim A19 3000K bulb without fear of damaging artwork, drapery, vintage wallpaper or other sensitive materials.

Quality of Light

  • Verbatim LED lamps produce a warm white light similar to a quality incandescent or halogen bulb. However, unlike halogen and incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs do not radiate heat or ultra-violet rays, which can degrade fabric or artwork colors.

Verbatim LED lamps are over 80 percent more efficient than traditional incandescent. Longer life means less shopping trips and less replacement, especially important if the bulb is located in a hard to reach location. Also, the higher initial cost of LED lighting is recovered after just 15 percent of the bulb lifetime.

Save Money While Helping to Save the Environment

  • The longer the life, the more money you save. While you enjoy the warm white comfortable light of Verbatim LED lamps, you are saving money. Due to energy efficiencies, you will save over 80 percent on your electricity bill over the lifetime of your Verbatim LED lamp. Plus, you will save the cost of replacing numerous incandescent or halogen bulbs, which on average will last for a maximum of 2,000 hours, versus the up to 40,000 hour life of Verbatim LED bulbs. Because they produce less heat, Verbatim LED bulbs also save on cooling costs.

Less electricity means less fossil fuel to pollute our environment. In the United States, 1 kWhr of electricity generated produces 1.34 pounds of CO2. Considering electricity use alone, a Verbatim LED lamp prevents 1,378 pounds of CO2 being released into the environment.

What exactly is LED? How does it work?

  • To understand the differences between LED and Incandescent bulbs, it’s important to understand the basics of how an Incandescent bulb creates light. Incandescent bulbs generate light by passing an electric current through a wire filament, heating it up. When the filament reaches a certain temperature, it begins to emit light. If you’ve ever tried to change a recently used incandescent bulb, you’ll know that they get extremely hot. What you may not know is that this heat represents wasted energy, and that your incandescent bulb wastes up to 90% of the energy it consumes as heat.

By contrast, LED bulbs emit light through a process known as electroluminescence. It’s pretty technical, but the primary distinction is that LED bulbs do not create light by generating heat, and do not use filaments, which have a limited lifespan. The result is a much more efficient and longer lasting bulb. How much more efficient and longer lasting? An LED bulb is up to 80% more efficient and lasts up to 5X longer than an incandescent bulb.

LED’s only come in much lower wattages – why?

  • For years we have been operating under a misconception when it comes to shopping for light bulbs – we as consumers have associated the wattage of the bulb with how bright the bulb is. With incandescent, this relationship was generally true, however, watts measure the amount of electricity used by a bulb, not the bulb’s brightness. The international unit of measure for brightness is actually the lumen.

In order to compare apples to apples when comparing incandescent bulbs with LEDs, you need to compare the lumen output of the bulb, or the amount of light the bulb emits. Because LEDs produce light by a different process than incandescent, they do so much more efficiently. Therefore, an LED bulb can achieve the same level of brightness (number of lumens) as an incandescent bulb but with much less energy, meaning a lower wattage for the LED bulb than its incandescent counterpart.

To make the transition from incandescent to LEDs a little easier, Verbatim prints both the lumen output of the bulb and a “wattage equivalency” on the packaging.

Factors to Consider: Shape

  • LED bulbs fit into essentially 4 overall categories with regard to shape. Each shape category has its benefits and limitations, determining where and how the bulb should be used. Here is some basic information regarding bulb shapes:

Floods – cast a wide light pattern, ideal for:
    • Recessed lighting
    • Outdoor floodlights
    • Landscape lighting
    • Motion sensors

Spotlights – concentrate light to a more narrow pattern, to produce a bright “spot” of light. Consider spotlights for:
    • Track lighting
    • Overhead recessed lighting

Candle (or candelabra) – like the name indicates are shaped similar to the flame of a candle and are typically used in multiples to create soft, ambient lighting. Candle (or candelabra) bulbs are typically used in:
    • Decorative fixtures (such as chandeliers)
    • Wall sconces

A-Line – is the standard light bulb shape we’re all familiar with. Used to spread light in a general pattern throughout the room, they are typically used in general purpose or decorative applications such as:

    • Room area lighting (floor lamps, table lamps)
    • Reading lamps or desk lamps
    • Overhead lighting (flush-mounts)

Factors to Consider: Color Temperature

  • True white light, like sunlight, is made up of all the colors in the visible light spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Man-made light sources have varying degrees of success when it comes to duplicating natural light, as a result the light source often has a tint of one of these colors present in the light. You may have noticed that some light sources, like fluorescents, appear bluer, while traditional incandescent bulbs have warm hue to the light they produce.

This variation in hue is measured in units called Kelvin. Higher Kelvin ranges produce a cooler (bluer) light, while lower Kelvin ranges produce a warmer (redder/yellower) light. Each end of the Kelvin spectrum, warm or cool has its benefits or limitations depending on use. Below are some general guidelines, but above all other criteria, desired color temperature is ultimately a personal preference.

2,500 – 3,000 K – Softer, warmer light, ideal for general purpose indoor lighting, accent lighting and decorative lighting
4,000 – 5,000 K – Brighter, crisper light ideal for task areas and outdoor lighting applications
